East Loddon

Sustainability & Stewardship

East Loddon is committed to a nature-positive future, with regenerative practices that protect both land and wildlife. Partnering with the Biodiversity Conservation Trust, they safeguard critical habitats for endangered species such as the Plains Wanderer, a rare ground-dwelling bird found on their farm.

Conservation Efforts

By reducing chemical inputs through SRS Merino breeding and land-care initiatives, they foster soil health, biodiversity, and long-term ecological balance – ensuring their property thrives as both a productive farm and a sanctuary for native species.

Our Commitment to Ethical Wool

At East Loddon, ethical wool production is at the heart of everything we do. We breed SRS Merinos with naturally reduced susceptibility to flystrike, allowing us to eliminate mulesing and uphold the highest standards of animal welfare.

Every decision we make – from low-intervention management to regenerative land care – is guided by respect for our sheep, our land, and the people who work it.

Recognised through ZQrx and RWS accreditation, our wool meets globally respected benchmarks for sustainability, traceability, and environmental stewardship, ensuring our customers can wear it with pride and confidence.

Certificates & Environmental Practices

Nuffield Scholarship – Regenerative Agriculture

In 2020, Tom was awarded the prestigious Nuffield Scholarship, supported by AWI, to investigate regenerative agriculture in low rainfall environments. His research took him to South Africa, the US, and New Zealand, where he studied the role of sheep in land management, alongside fencing and water infrastructure to support best-practice grazing. These global learnings are now embedded in East Loddon’s operations, shaping a resilient, productive and sustainable future for East Loddon Merinos.
