Selection Principles

At East Loddon we take a balanced approach in our classing of animals. We undertake a strict visual appraisal along with benchmarked objective measurement, in the form of Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs).

At classing each animal is visually assessed on body structure, fibre quality & quantity and skin type (no wrinkle, thin and loose).

ASBVs are a fantastic tool for evaluating a number of other traits that are difficult to pick up just by eye.

We take a lot of care ensuring the data we collect is best practice thus generating highly reliable breeding values for the most informed breeding decisions for us and our clients.
